Service Engineer / Inspector – Safety Equipment
Fulltime (40 hrs/week) · Almere · workshop & field
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Service Engineer / Inspector to carry out periodic inspections, maintenance, assembly and certification of technical safety equipment. You'll work both in our workshop and on location at client sites, keeping fall-protection, confined-space, rescue and evacuation, and personal protective equipment safe, compliant, and fully operational. This is a practical, quality-driven role for someone who takes pride in precise, standards-compliant technical work and enjoys variety between workshop and field.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & certification — Carry out periodic (annual/statutory) inspections of fall-protection systems, rescue equipment, and evacuation installations at client sites.
Quality control — Perform incoming quality checks on manufactured and supplied components against specification and applicable European standards.
Assembly & testing — Assemble, test, and certify technical PPE and safety systems, verifying compliance with relevant EN/NEN standards before release.
Maintenance & repair — Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and service installed fall-protection, rescue, and evacuation equipment in the field.
Installation — Install new fall-protection and rescue/evacuation systems at client locations, following technical drawings and safety procedures.
Administration — Log inspections, findings, and certifications accurately in the Service Management System; issue inspection reports and certificates.
Client contact — Liaise directly with clients' safety officers and facility contacts on-site, explaining findings and recommendations clearly.
Feedback loop — Signal commercial opportunities (replacements, upgrades, additional inspections) back to the sales team.
Sectors You'll Work In
You'll inspect and service equipment on-site across industries where working at height, confined-space entry, or emergency rescue create significant occupational risk, including:
Industrial manufacturing and heavy industry
Oil, gas, and offshore / petrochemical facilities
Chemical and process industries
Construction and infrastructure
Utilities and energy (including wind and power generation)
Ports, logistics, and (petro)chemical storage/tank terminals
Industrial maintenance, inspection, and facility services
Emergency response, fire brigades, and rescue organisations
What You Bring
Vocational/technical education (MBO level) in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
Hands-on technical aptitude with a practical, precise approach to maintenance and inspection work.
Prior experience in a comparable technical service, maintenance, or inspection role.
Fluent Dutch; working proficiency in English is an advantage.
Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces as part of daily duties.
Valid category B driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites across the country.
A quality-first mindset — comfortable following structured inspection protocols and documenting results accurately.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and VCA safety certification.
Knowledge of height-safety, confined-space, or PPE standards (e.g. EN 795, EN 361, NEN).
Experience as a certified rope-access technician, height-safety inspector, or similar.
Residing near Almere, or willing to relocate.
What We Offer
A varied, hands-on role combining workshop and field work across technically demanding sectors.
A full-time position with a competitive salary and travel allowance.
Company van/vehicle and tools provided for site work.
Training toward inspector and product certifications, including supplier-specific courses.
A collegial, safety-first working environment with short communication lines.
